How to Clear a Green Pool with Swamp Treat™ Algaecide

Swamp Treat™

Objective

This guide walks you through using Swamp Treat to drastically accelerate the recovery of a heavily neglected or green pool, turning a dark green swamp blue in just 24 hours.

Why Chlorine Alone Isn't Enough for a Swamp

When you open a pool to find a "frog pond," your first instinct might be to dump 20 gallons of liquid chlorine into it. However, chlorine is primarily a sanitizer, not a specialized algaecide. In a swampy pool, chlorine gets entirely consumed by organic debris before it even touches the live algae. Swamp Treat acts as a catalyst; it forces 1 gallon of chlorine to do the work of 10 gallons. It kills the algae immediately through your filtration system, saving you from having to dump thousands of gallons of water by vacuuming to waste.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure your filter is clean before starting.

  • Be prepared to clean your filter again 24 hours after application.

  • Have a heavy dose of chlorine shock ready.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prep the System: Turn the Main Power Switch to your pump ON.

  2. Apply Swamp Treat: Add the recommended dose of Swamp Treat directly to the pool water.

  3. Shock Heavily: Immediately add your liquid chlorine or granular shock.

  4. Run the Filter Continuously: Leave the pump running for 24 hours. Do not turn it off.

  5. Clean the Filter (Crucial Step): After 24 hours, you must clean or backwash your filter. Because the product kills algae so incredibly fast, the dead algae will create a heavy load on your filter media.

Troubleshooting Note: If your filter pressure spikes quickly or seems to clog, this is excellent news—it is absolute proof the product is working! If the filter isn't catching it, the dead algae isn't leaving the pool. Clean the filter and keep circulating.
