How to Use Sparkle Treat: Borate Pool Clarifier Guide

Sparkle Treat™

Objective

This guide walks you through the initial setup and weekly maintenance of Sparkle Treat™, our premium borate treatment. Discover how to permanently lock in your pH and give your pool that highly sought-after, diamond-like sparkle.

The Magic of Pool Borates

If you are tired of constantly battling pH drift or dealing with water that looks just a little dull, borates are your ultimate solution. Sparkle Treat™ acts as a powerful secondary buffer in your water. Once added, it essentially "locks" your pH in place, drastically reducing the annoying "pH bounce" and minimizing your need for continuous acid or base adjustments.

Beyond making water chemistry incredibly stable, borates give the water a luxurious, silky feel and a brilliant visual clarity that standard clarifiers simply can't match. For the absolute best results and ultimate chemical harmony, we highly recommend managing your pool using the Hamilton Index™ balancing system.

Prerequisites

  • Balance your water's pH to your desired target level before adding the product. Because Sparkle Treat™ stabilizes pH, it will lock the water at whatever pH level you start with!

  • Crucial Safety Rule: Do not add this product directly to an oxidizer (such as chlorine, bromine, non-chlorine shock, hydrogen peroxide, etc.).

Step-by-Step Instructions for Sparkle Treat™

Phase 1: Initial Treatment (Establishing the Borate Bank)

  1. Activate Circulation: Turn your pump switch to the ON position to ensure the pool water is moving.

  2. Verify pH: Confirm your pH is balanced to your desired level according to the Hamilton Index™.

  3. Calculate the Dose: For your initial treatment, you will need 7.5 lbs of Sparkle Treat™ for every 5,000 gallons of pool water.

  4. Apply the Product: Broadcast the calculated amount evenly over the surface of the pool water. Alternatively, you can pre-dissolve it in a clean bucket of water before pouring it in.

  5. Brush to Dissolve: If any of the chemical settles on the pool floor or steps and fails to fully dissolve, use a standard pool brush to gently sweep it off the surface and into the water column.

Phase 2: Weekly Maintenance Treatment

  1. Maintain the Sparkle: Once your initial borate bank is established, simply add 4 oz. of Sparkle Treat™ per 10,000 gallons of water once a week with the pump running. This small top-off keeps the water brilliantly clear and your pH firmly locked.

Troubleshooting Note: Don't worry if it takes a few minutes of brushing to get the initial dose to dissolve completely. Because you are adding a large volume of product upfront to establish your borate baseline, it just needs a little physical help mixing in. Once established, your tiny weekly maintenance doses will dissolve effortlessly!
