How to Use Poly60 Treat Pool Algaecide

Poly60 Treat™

Objective

This guide provides the official instructions for using Poly60 Treat™ to effectively control and prevent the growth of algae in your swimming pool, exterior whirlpool, or hot bath.

The Benefits of a Preventative Algaecide

While chlorine is an excellent sanitizer, heavy summer rainstorms, high heat, and heavy swimmer loads can quickly deplete your chlorine levels, leaving your pool totally vulnerable to a green algae bloom. Poly60 Treat™ acts as your pool's reliable backup defense system.

This highly effective polymer algaecide distributes uniformly throughout the water to control algae growth before it can take over. One of its greatest strengths is its stability: it remains highly effective at both acidic and alkaline pH levels, meaning it keeps protecting your pool even if your water balance drifts slightly. Best of all, by actively suppressing algae, Poly60 Treat™ actually reduces the amount of daily chlorine your pool requires to stay crystal clear!

Prerequisites

  • Assess the Pool: For maximum effectiveness, if your pool currently has a heavy or severe growth of algae, it must be cleaned and treated with a corrective shock or accelerator prior to using this product.

  • Never Pre-Mix with Chlorine: Do not mix this product with concentrated dry or liquid chlorine products in the same bucket or container.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Preparation and Circulation

To ensure the uniform distribution necessary for maximum effectiveness, always turn your pool pump switch to the ON position before applying the product.

2. Select Your Dosage

Determine the current state of your pool to select the correct dosage based on 10,000 gallons of water:

  • For a Freshly Cleaned and Filled Pool: Add an initial dose of 6 to 11 fluid ounces of Poly60 Treat™ per 10,000 gallons of water.

  • For Pools with Just Visible Algae Growth: Add an initial dose of 11 to 17 fluid ounces of Poly60 Treat per 10,000 gallons of water. Once the algae dies and settles, vacuum or clean out the settled algae debris.

3. Apply the Product

Pour the measured dose of Poly60 Treat™ directly into the pool water, walking it around the perimeter to help it disperse evenly.

4. Weekly Maintenance (Keep it Clear)

To maintain a pool completely free of visible algae growth, make subsequent additions of 2 to 4 fluid ounces of Poly60 Treat™ per 10,000 gallons of water every 5 to 7 days after your initial treatment.

Troubleshooting Note: Poly60 Treat™ is fully compatible with the standard chemicals normally used to treat pools, including your regular chlorine routine. Simply ensure you add your chlorine and your algaecide to the pool water separately, allowing the water to circulate in between additions.
