How do I lower Total Alkalinity?
To lower Total Alkalinity we recommend using Easy Acid or - if not available - Sodium Bisulfate. This will lower the alkalinity strongly while keeping the pH relatively stable. We recommend you balance your Total Alkalinity according to your water hardness. Refer to the Hamilton Index for specific recommendations.
Assuming 10,000 gallon pool, for every 10ppm desired decrease in Total Alkalinity, add 2 pounds of Easy Acid or Sodium Bisulfate.
